Competition Details
Intermediate competition finals will be held LIVE at the Australia's Ultimate Drummers Weekend 20th anniversary on Saturday August 25th, 2012
All finalists will perform for a selected judging panel of Australian and International drum artists and the winner will be announced at the 20th Annual Australian Ultimate Drummer's Weekend & Expo 2012
Interstate entries are welcome. All interstate finalists are responsible for their own transport and accommodation if traveling to Melbourne for INTERMEDIATE competition finals.
All finalists will receive a commemorative certificate.
Competition Requirements
Choose one piece from each category and record the pieces on DVD.
1) Reading 20 marks
Play Sight Reading exercise No. 33 on page 89 from 'Reading Rhythm' BK/CD by Bill Kezelos
2) Technique 25 marks
Any one piece from: Rudiments & Motions by Frank Corniola (pp 155 - 161)
3) Kit Piece 30 marks
Any one (1) of the following pieces:
'Oakland Drive' or 'Highway to Funk' or 'Streets of Cuba' from: 'Rhythm Section Drumming' BK/CD by Frank Corniola
OR Any one (1) piece from: 'In Session - With Dave Weckl Band' BK/CD by Dave Weckl
OR Any one (1) piece from: 'The Groove Perspective Play-Along' BK/CD by Darryn Farrugia
OR One piece of your choice of similar standard - Provide chart
4) Free Choice 25 marks
Open solo - Maximum 3 minutes
