Competition Details
This is your opportunity to gain national recognition,exposure and a professional career turning-point.This is the most prestigious drumming award in Australia and will be presented to one of three finalists at the 18th Annual Australia's Ultimate Drummer's Weekend & Expo 2010.

THREE FINALISTS will be selected from all over Australia to compete in Melbourne. (All national and international finalists are responsible for their own transport and accommodation).The three finalists will be DRUMTEK's special guests for three days and will attend all DRUMTEK events that week including The Ultimate Drummer's Weekend & Expo 2010.

Formal presentations, announcement of winner, runner-ups and receivers of the encouragement award will occur at Australia's Ultimate Drummers Weekend & Expo 2010.

All finalists will receive a commemorative certificate and the Open competition finals will be held LIVE at

Australia's Ultimate Drummers Weekend 18th anniversary on Sunday July 25th, 2010.

Competition Requirements
Choose one piece from each category and record the pieces on a VHS video tape or DVD

ENTRY FEE $30

Choose one piece from each category

Solos 30 marks

Any one solo from the following choices:

'The Solo' or 'Crazy Army" by Steve Gadd ('Up Close' book)

'Haversack' or 'Bub ' by Graham Morgan ('Analysis of Contemporary Drumming' book)

Technique 20 marks

Any one piece from Rudiments & Motions by Frank Corniola pp 169 – 176

Free Choice Section 20 marks

Approximately 2 minutes in duration. Jazz, Latin or Contemporary improvisation

Kit Piece 30 marks Play any one (1) piece from the following:

'Complex City' OR 'Fusion Boulevard' Rhythm Section Drumming by Frank Corniola

'Oakland Zone' OR 'Pocketful of Soul' The Code of Funk by David Garibaldi

'Native Metal' OR 'Pyramids On Mars' Ultimate Play-Along by Virgil Donati

Any one (1) Global Tours (pages 102-107) from the 'Groove Essentials 2.0' byTommy Igoe

'Original Contemporary Piece' 3-4 minutes. Must submit the Drum Transcript
