Salvador
Persico
In 1993, at the age of
16, Salvador performed for the first time with a local
latin band, and now performs frequently within Melbourne's
latin music scene. He completed a Bachelor of music performance
in Improvisation in 2004 at the Victorian College of the
Arts. During his playing career Salvador has had the opportunity
the meet and study with great artists such as Raul Rekow
(Santana), Rolando Palacios (Afro Cuban All-Stars) and
"Ran" (Elvis Crespo).
Some of Salvador's performance highlights
include:
> Touring Australia with Blue King
Brown Dec 05 - Feb 06 and performing sold out shows in
Brisbane, Sydney, Sunshine coast and several festivals
such as: Woodford Folk, rhythm and life Festival, Newtown
Festival, Festival of the Sun, The Spiegel Tent at the
Fringe Festival in Adelaide, just to mention a few.
> The 2005 Grand Final supporting Delta Goodrem, Michael
Buble, Silvi Paladino and Dame Edna.
> The musical "Dirty Dancing" in Melbourne's
Princess Theatre in 2005
> Supported Hugh Jackman at the 2004 Red Ball Gala.
> Performed on New Years Eve 2003 for Natalie Imbruglia
and Daniel Johns wedding in Port Douglas, Cairns.
> Opening the 2001 and 2002 Australian F1 Grand Prix
with the Brazilian Style Percussion ensembles Tumbarumba
and Bad Boys Batucada.
Salvador is also involved with Shureshock,
a funk/soul original Melbourne-based band who are currently
fine-tuning a song repertoire for their debut CD.
Salvador's workshops will cover a wide
variety of instruments including Brazilian Percussion,
Cuban Percussion and Ethnic Percussion and he also teaches
Drum kit.
Salvador is now enrolling students for
lessons at the Drumtek School of Music.
