Each drum is constructed from 100% North American maple using DW's 8-ply HVLT (Horizontal Vertical Low Timbre) shell technology. The alternating horizontal and vertical grain orientation is designed to balance resonance, projection and tonal control, producing a warm, punchy sound with a strong low-end response and plenty of sustain. The result is a versatile tonal platform that works equally well in the studio, on stage and in rehearsal environments.
The 16x22" bass drum provides a powerful, focused low end with plenty of projection, while the 8x12" rack tom delivers a balanced, articulate response for melodic fills and grooves. Completing the configuration is a 14x16" floor tom, offering a deep, full-bodied voice that adds substantial low-end weight to the kit.
DW's attention to detail continues throughout the hardware. STM Suspension Tom Mounts help isolate the rack tom from the bass drum, allowing the shell to resonate more freely for improved sustain and response. The low-mass mini-turret lugs minimise shell contact, while graduated triple-flange chrome steel hoops provide a familiar playing feel with excellent tuning response and rimshot definition.
For tuning precision, the drums feature DW True-Pitch® tuning rods, which use additional threads compared with standard tension rods. This provides finer tuning adjustment, improved tuning stability and greater control when dialling in the exact sound you want.
